You can put your forum in maintenance mode or coming soon mode.
In this mode, you can specify who can access.
Admin is always allowed to access.
It can also be set so that all logged-in users can access, or specify a tag that can only be accessed by users with that tag.
You can use this feature to setup a private forum. For example, only allows logged in users can access the forum. Just need to change the message:
